Dear University of Miami Student,

An important step in providing a safe campus environment is reducing the risk of the virus entering our community from the beginning. Recent shifts in modeling suggest that testing all students for COVID-19—including those who reside off campus—prior to their arrival can help safeguard our campus community. Therefore, all students attending in-person classes on the Coral Gables and Marine campuses are required to test negative for COVID-19 before they are allowed to first return to campus. Students attending classes at the Miller School of Medicine will receive separate information.

Next steps

Review University information for required COVID-19 testing for all students returning to campus

Take the daily symptom checker

If necessary, contact tracing will be initiated

  • Students who are experiencing COVID-19-related symptoms, or who believe they have been exposed to the virus, are not to come to campus and should call the University’s COVID-19 hotline at 305-243-ONE-U and visit the Student Health Service website for additional COVID-19 information.
  • If needed, contact tracing will be initiated to identify University of Miami individuals who may have come into contact with an infected person. Contact tracing will be conducted by the University's U-TRACE team for any confirmed cases, and COVID-19-positive individuals will be required to self-isolate.
