Dear University of Miami Students,
This message outlines important information about COVID-19 testing for students during the 2021 summer term. Please review all material carefully.
Any student who is fully vaccinated and who has provided proof of vaccination to the University is exempt from COVID-19 surveillance testing during the 2021 summer term.
The University strongly encourages all students to be immunized against COVID-19 to safeguard their health and the health of all members of our University and South Florida communities.
What does “fully vaccinated” mean and how can I show proof of vaccination? To be fully vaccinated, you must be at least two weeks past receiving the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. To be exempt from the surveillance testing requirement, you must submit proof of vaccination by uploading a copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to your MyUHealthChart account. Detailed instructions are available at
https://uchart.it.miami.edu/uchart-learning-resources/myuhealthchart/tip-sheets/uploading-covid-19-vaccination-record-card/index.html
Who is required to test? Any student who is not fully vaccinated or has not provided proof of vaccination and will be on any University of Miami campus at least twice per week during the summer term will be required to take a COVID-19 test two times per week. This includes students who live in on-campus housing, including religious and fraternity housing; students who will be on campus to take or teach classes, conduct research, participate in an internship, work, or serve as a camp counselor; and students wishing to utilize the University Center pool, Herbert Wellness Center, Richter Library, or other on-campus facilities. Students will receive emails and/or text message alerts to schedule their on-campus testing appointments.
Any student who fails to comply with the testing requirement will be referred to the Dean of Students office and may have their campus access and/or work or lab privileges suspended.
What are the locations and hours of the testing sites? The Coral Gables Campus testing site is located in Pavia Garage and is available each week, Tuesday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Marine Campus testing site is located on the first floor of the MTLSS building garage and is available Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Medical Campus testing site is located at 1425 NW 10th Avenue and is available Mondays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
Is any action required now? To ensure you receive timely alerts, students should confirm that their local address and phone number are correct in CaneLink. Additionally, if students opted out of text alerts last semester, they must text UNSTOP to 833-572-0565 to receive reminder text alerts again.
Students who have been vaccinated are encouraged to upload proof of vaccination to their MyUHealthChart account.
Where can I get vaccinated? The University strongly encourages all students to be immunized against COVID-19. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please visit vaccinefinder.org to find a vaccination location near you. |
