We just finished a successful Spring 2021 semester and academic year, which highlighted our capacity to face and overcome challenges with an irrepressible spirit of creativity and determination. I can’t say it enough: Thank you for all you do for the U!
Today I would like to shine a special spotlight on teaching excellence with the announcement of our inaugural Provost’s Teaching Awards recipients. These 13 individuals are being recognized for their exemplary and distinguished record of teaching, mentoring, and instructional innovation, both in and out of the classroom. This year’s awardees in the three featured categories are listed below. Additional information about them and award criteria are available here.
The Luis Glaser Mentorship Award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to mentoring students. This award is named after the late Dr. Luis Glaser, former provost and longtime source of inspiration and leadership at the U.

The Innovation in Teaching Award recognizes a full-time faculty member or a small team who has overcome a difficult course-related problem with a novel and enduring approach to teaching, engagement, and learning activities.

The Excellence in Experiential Teaching Award recognizes faculty who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the student learning process, integrating excellent teaching with opportunities for experiential learning through curricular and co-curricular activities, and actively promoting and guiding learning outside of the classroom.
