Dear ’Canes Family,
This has been an invigorating week on campus. Our students and faculty wrapped up classes and prepared for final exams, as we announced a new direction for Hurricanes Athletics.
While we have all been busy, I did not want to miss the opportunity to celebrate a milestone for our community. Yesterday marked 25 years since our Senior Vice President, Dr. Pat Whitely, took the helm for our Student Affairs team.
There has been a great deal of reflection both privately and publicly in recent weeks about what it means to be a Miami Hurricane. We need look no further than a leader who walks the talk when it comes to ’Canes caring for ’Canes, and inspires students to do the same.
Pat works tirelessly to make the student experience here memorable, empowering, and an opportunity for continuous growth. We are fortunate to have one of the most accomplished Student Affairs leaders in the country here at the U.
I was delighted to learn that our student leaders surprised her with a celebration. Please join them and me in thanking Dr. Whitely and wishing her a happy silver anniversary in her role!
