Dear Students,
The University of Miami’s Climate Resilience Academy is hosting the sixth edition of the annual Climate and Health symposium on April 7, 2023, from 8:30am – 5:30pm at the Lakeside Village Expo Center. The symposium will bring policy makers, health care and industry professionals, and scholars to discuss societal and health impacts of climate change and to address resilient solutions.
We invite all faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff members to submit posters for presentation and consideration of awards by March 10, in any of the following areas:

Novel research that provides an understanding of the societal and health impacts of natural disasters, especially hurricanes and wildfires

Pragmatic solutions that can mitigate societal and/or health impacts of changing climate, such as
-
Health care training and delivery
-
Engineering solutions
-
Urban planning and architectural design
-
Training future generations of the workforce to tackle challenges that climate change poses to our society and health
-
Economic and health burdens of extreme weather events
-
Cost-benefit analysis of policy interventions
-
Legislative framework to address climate change
-
Disproportionate disease burden of extreme weather events in vulnerable communities
-
Institutional and infrastructure building to mitigate economic and health impacts of extreme weather events
-
Efficacy of recent local and regional interventions to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters, especially hurricanes and wildfires

Community outreach activities to engage community members in preparation, adaptation, and related measures to mitigate the adverse impacts of natural disasters
-
Communication strategies to engage different stakeholders in discourses that address societal and health impacts of changing climate
