Dear University Community,
It is with mixed feelings that I write to inform you about an important change in the executive leadership team of the University. Our colleague and dear friend, Jacqueline A. Travisano, will leave the University of Miami at the end of June to accept the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer at Wake Forest University.
Since arriving at UM in June 2017, Dr. Travisano has provided thoughtful leadership and fiscal oversight of the University’s finances and business operations.
As executive vice president for business and finance and chief operating officer, she deftly handled responsibilities that ranged from all financial functions—including accounting, budgeting and planning, audit and compliance, endowments, pension assets, and external financial relationships—to business operations and oversight of facilities and planning, information technology, emergency management, parking, human resources, and the UM Police Department.
Dr. Travisano has been a crucial member of my leadership team and played an integral role in helping the University of Miami navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic. While this is a bittersweet moment for us, I know her professional acumen and collaborative spirit will be an outstanding asset to our ACC sister school in North Carolina.
I would be remiss if I did not recognize Dr. Travisano’s leadership in building upon the success of the annual Dolphins Challenge Cancer event that benefits Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and South Florida. She has been an enthusiastic supporter and champion of this important community event, serving on the DCC board, chairing the event twice, and helping to raise more than $12 million.
We are thrilled for Jackie as she embarks on this new chapter in her impressive career. Please join me in wishing her much success.
