Dear University of Miami Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of University of Miami student Daniel Perez, who passed away Saturday, May 13. In a tragic accident, he drowned off the coast of Melbourne while swimming with fellow University students. He was a junior studying finance in the Miami Herbert Business School, with a minor in entrepreneurship.
Originally from Venezuela, Daniel was known for being an infectious light that made you smile. His close friends shared he was kind and had such a positive impact on other people’s lives. He was always encouraging others to reach their goals.
Daniel was an active brother of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and loved sports. He was a huge fan of Manchester United, Formula 1, and the Florida Panthers. He loved traveling to Venezuela to see his extended family and friends and was particularly close with his older brother, Marcos.
Please join me in extending our deepest sympathies to Daniel’s family and friends. We have been in touch with the members of Beta Theta Pi to provide support and convey our heartfelt condolences.
If you or anyone you know needs help, please do not hesitate to reach out.
