To the University of Miami community,
As the long weekend got underway on Friday, we were met with the sad news that Trustee Emerita and Former Chair of the University of Miami Board of Trustees Marta Weeks Wulf passed away at the age of 93 on September 1.
Marta lived a full life and we at the University of Miami are better because of it. She was the first woman to chair our Board of Trustees and blessed us with her volunteer leadership for nearly four decades—taking a break from active participation on campus while she pursued her calling to become a minister, a role in which she also broke barriers, becoming only the sixth woman priest in the Episcopal Diocese of South Florida.
Marta’s intellectual curiosity, leadership, and generosity of spirit made her a force for good. Whether leading our Board of Trustees, helping to transform our Frost School into one of the premiere music programs in the country, or supporting our students through scholarships across a number of disciplines, the University could always rely on her vision, her kindness, and her commitment to our mission. We will miss her.
Our hearts go out to all of Marta’s loved ones, especially her children Kermit and UM alumna Leslie. Please join me in wishing them comfort and peace at this most difficult time, as we remember Marta’s many contributions to the University and community. |
