Maria Luisa Alcaide is a renowned infectious disease physician-scientist who has contributed significantly to the field of HIV and emerging infections. She is one of the top-funded NIH scholars at the Miller School of Medicine, where she is a professor and has served as director of clinical research, as well as leader of the Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the Miami Center for AIDS Research Clinical Sciences Core and mentoring program.
