Dear ’Canes,
We hope you’re having a great start to the first week of classes. This time of year is always exciting as we look forward to the semester ahead filled with new opportunities.
Your experience, both in and out of the classroom, is a top priority for us. We encourage you to take advantage of resources and services designed to enhance your academic success, professional development, and personal growth.
Our newly launched Center for Academic Navigation and Success, developed with direct feedback from students, supports your academic goals through Cane navigators (academic advisors), transitional guides (advisors for pre-arrival and changing your major to a different school or college), and success advocates (advisors for challenges).
If you are having difficulty in a course or want to help other students navigate challenging courses, Camner Center for Academic Resources offers peer tutoring as well as programming that helps students enhance their learning and academic progress.
To succeed in the classroom, you must also prioritize your health and well-being. It’s important to take care of yourself throughout the semester, and we have a wide range of resources for you. Our Herbert Wellness Center is a great place to maintain your fitness, connect with others through intramural sports, and learn new ways to de-stress. The
Counseling Center has individual sessions and online resources to support your mental health. Student Health Service
is on call if you’re not feeling well or to obtain your flu shot later this fall. Our Chaplains Association in the
Dean of Students Office is a great point of contact for your spiritual needs. Ultimately, the goal is to create a plan that focuses on your needs and helps you find balance between the challenges of college life and the rigors of your coursework.
We look forward to connecting with you throughout the semester. Please join us at Pancakes with Pat on September 23 at 8:30 p.m. at Centennial Village and Pizza with Provost Prado on Thursday, September 24, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Lakeside Canopy.
’Canes Care for ’Canes. We’re grateful that you are part of the Miami Hurricanes family, and we are with you every step of the way. Your time here will enrich your life through the lifelong connections you will make at the U.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us. We wish you a wonderful and productive school year.
