Dear School of Law Community,
We want to take a moment to share with you that we have asked Patricia Sanchez Abril to continue in her role as interim dean.
Since assuming the interim dean position on April 1, 2024, Dean Abril has brought new ideas and insightful leadership, vision, and stability to the school during this transition period. Her reappointment will continue this trajectory.
During the past year, Dean Abril has worked closely with faculty to create an engaging culture of excellence at the school and target areas for significant improvement, including building robust mentorship and student engagement initiatives and launching the school’s first online Master of Legal Studies. The school has also celebrated the highest employment numbers in five years and the most academically competitive incoming class in its history. In addition, the dean founded the Miami Law and AI lab, offering an innovative and visionary approach to legal education and artificial intelligence.
We appreciate Dean Abril’s willingness and commitment to continue in this role.
