To Our Fellow Canes:
Welcome back! As students, faculty, and staff return for the start of fall classes, the spirit of the U is alive and thriving. It is great to have the University of Miami family back together.
The enthusiasm and swagger are real—everyone can feel it. We thrive on this energy, and it drives a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in everything we do.
Across our schools and colleges, Canes are pushing boundaries in research and discovery, from coral reef restoration to cancer breakthroughs to harnessing the power of AI. Our faculty and students are shaping solutions to the most pressing challenges of our time.
The Frost School of Music continues to make its mark, producing award-winning faculty, breaking barriers in the music industry, and inspiring audiences around the world. Closer to home, the Band of the Hour keeps that unmistakable Miami beat alive, welcoming our newest students and energizing the entire campus.
The fans are excited. Our athletic programs fuel pride across our community and our city. From the kickoff of our football season on Labor Day weekend to athletes who compete at the highest level across all our sports, Canes athletics remain a dynamic part of our culture.
Additionally, we are home to a world-class health system. From exceptional care across South Florida to pioneering discoveries in the lab, UHealth brings hope, healing, and resilience to the communities we serve.
Our students, faculty members, administration, Board of Trustees, and community are aligned. Ours is an unbreakable bond. Each of us whose lives are touched by the culture of our students, faculty members, clinicians, professional staff, or the support teams that make things work behind the scenes, become Canes for life.
We are beginning our second century as a university at a time when higher education is facing challenges. We have managed uncertainty in an exemplary fashion, continuing to focus on the well-being of each and every member of our community, while avoiding the pitfalls of division. We can express ourselves freely, while respectfully regarding the views of others.
Our shared love of Canes culture is what will carry us into our second century—together. It unites us, inspires us, and reminds us that leadership is a team sport.
So, whether today is your first day on campus or you’ve been a Cane for decades, let’s embrace this year boldly and responsibly. Wherever our culture thrives, excellence follows.
The future is U! |
